Fitness testing day results

On Saturday March 12, over 550 TAC Cup players were put through their paces as part of the annual TAC Cup Fitness Testing Day.

AFL Victoria, with the assistance of Rookie Me, tested each of the players across four different stations – 20-metre sprint, agility test, beep test and vertical jumping (standing and running).

Calder Cannons over-age player Ben Ronke demonstrated his athleticism by recording the fastest time in the 20m sprint (2.83s) and the equal-third-highest standing vertical jump (80cm).

Ahead of Ronke were Bailey Morrish (Dandenong Stingrays) and Matt O’Connell (Oakleigh Chargers) who both recorded a standing vertical jump of 81cm. Sandringham Dragons player Barclay Miller performed the best running vertical jump (99cm).

Morrish also featured highly in the agility test, recording the second-fastest time (7.81s) behind North Ballarat Rebels captain Jarrod Berry (7.80s).

In the day’s most gruelling test, Gippsland Power bottom-age player Travis Bindley recorded the best beep test result with a 16.03. Just behind were Jake Bradley (Northern Knights) and Lachlan Huppatz (North Ballarat Rebels), who both ran a 16.02.
