Tournament Information
For 27 years, North Canterbury has hosted this major event, where South Island Clubs and Associations are invited to come together to compete for the championship title over a hard-fought three days. Two years ago, we made the tournament even bigger, and more family friendly, by introducing a Year 5/6 grade, and this year a Year 5&6 Boys A grade. This provides young players with a first taste in tournament basketball, which is always a highlight for them. We warmly invite you to take part in this event which, in 2017, had over 40 teams participate. This is especially a great opportunity for primary school basketball players to test themselves against the best from around the South Island.

GRADES
Each grade will have a boys and girls section.
A Grade: The ‘A’ Grade is where the top Year 7&8 Boys and Girls, and Boys 5&6, players compete against each other, with a lot of the players having already participated in local and regional representative teams.
Development Grade: The development grade is a great place for players relatively new to the game or for those wanting to compete in a less competitive grade. Clubs and Associations are welcome to enter more than one team in this grade.
Year 5 & 6: A great opportunity to give younger boys and girls their first taste at competing in a tournament and we look forward to seeing them running around and having fun whilst experiencing the thrill of their first South Island tournament.

ENTRY FEE
$120 per child. An invoice will be created upon the player’s successful allocation into a team.
This should be paid into the NCBA Westpac account: 03-0674-0108683-00 by the due date.
DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY PRIOR TO RECEIVING CONFIRMATION OF SELECTION INTO A TEAM.
By accepting a place in the team on behalf of your child, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of payment.

SCOREBENCH
Teams will be required to do score bench duty before or after their games, with AT LEAST one adult present. No phones should be used during the games.

REFEREES
If you are a referee and would like to participate, please contact NCBA on admin@ncba.org.nz. Referees are reimbursed for their time.

TOURNAMENT T-SHIRTS & TEAM PHOTOS
If selected, your entry fee will include the tournament t-shirt and an electronic version of a professional team shot - samples of this can be seen below. You will be able to indicate your preferred size in the registration form.
A link will be sent out once teams are confirmed. South Island Primary T-shirts have always been extremely popular due to being a quality dry-fit material.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
An event programme is created, which becomes a keepsake for those attending the tournament.
Sponsorships are available for this programme, as well as other opportunities.
Please contact Caroline Whittaker, on 027 222 0943 or admin@ncba.org.nz.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
