Representative Trials for 2017 teams

2017 Representative overview:

Trials for the 2017 Representative season will occur in October and November this year. This will allow for teams to be selected and finalised before Christmas and teams to be notified of the 2017 Super Camp (pre-season camp) early in 2017.

Changes to the 2017 season:

ACM: In 2017 there will be no ACM teams, with Basketball Auckland and Counties Manukau Basketball holding their own teams respectively.

For each Basketball Auckland, Counties Manukau and Wwabi an A and a B team will be selected at each age group to represent the associations at the Easter and Super City Competitions. Both A and B will then contest for a spot at the Nationals in the regional qualifying tournament.

Phoenix League: For those athletes that miss out on selection into the A or B teams they will be invited to trial for a local ‘Phoenix league’ team. The Phoenix league is the new club based league starting in 2017 to offer a high quality intercity competition. More information on the Phoenix league will be available in late October, early November.

 Playing Eligibility:

To be eligible to represent your association you must meet the criteria set out by Basketball New Zealand. Firstly you must play within the correct age group (not turning the age in the year of playing; i.e. you cannot turn 17 in 2017 to play U17). Secondly you can only play if you go to school or live in the region of your given association.

If you live in one region but go to school in another you have the choice in which team you trial for BUT must notify us of which association you wish to trial for so you don’t end up on 2 lists.

Before you trial please ensure you are eligible to play for that association. If you are un sure or wish to clarify your position please contact General Manager Dave Mackay via email on dave@absl.co.nz stating your current school, residential address and any other supporting information.

THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE EOB ON THE 26TH OF OCTOBER
