AUSTRALIA 6 - SOLOMON ISLANDS 0 Australia goes into the second leg with what appears an insurmountable 5-1 lead over the Solomon Islanders. Harry Kewell and Luke Wilkshire come into the side at the expense of Ahmad Elrich and Vince Grella (injured). Kick-off: 7.30pm The game is underway with Australia kicking off. 2' Milicic through ball for Emerton just cut out by George Suri. 3' Great movement by Batrum Suri to chest ball down, which gets him past a slipping Tony Popovic through on goal, but he hesitates and shoots ball well wide. Great chance for Solomons to score a shock opener. 5' Goal to Milicic - first corner of game to Australia, cleared back out to Emerton, Kewell takes the ball slips to Skoko and his first time ball is put home by Milicic from the six-yard box 8' Goal to Kewell - Emerton forces corner for Australia and its goal number two, as Emerton's cross is headed back into the middle and Kewell swivels and pokes home from close range. 13' Alick Maemae skins both Emerton and Muscat, but his attempted cross goes into the side-netting. The crowd is coming in and its a fair size now that are getting into the match. Luke Wilkshire is not looking overawed in his first starting appearance in the green and gold and is showing some nice touches. Quick free kick goes out for a corner. Half Time Australia 2-0 Great start by Aussies with two goals in the first ten minutes, but they dropped off a little, although they still controlled play. Australian H/T substitutions - Kevin Muscat, Josip Skoko, Harry Kewell off - Jon McKain, Archie Thompson and Ahmad Elrich on. Solomon H/T substitution - Batrum Suri off - Kidson Billy on 51' Uneventful beginning to the second half, Solomons win corner kick, which Schwarzer takes comfortably. 51' quick break started by Schwarzer to Emerton plays a through ball to Thompson who beats offisde trap, tries to lob keeper but goes well over bar. 54' Maemae shows great skill with a back heel touch for himself, but Colosimo is able to clear for corner. Crowd - 19,208 79' Goal to Thompson - Australia's first goal from open play, with Emerton laying off for Thompson who gets a deserved goal for his second half performance. 81' sweeping move forward, Emerton cuts back for Milicic, but shot well over bar. 82' Goal to Elrich - Thompson puts Elrich through into the box and he finishes neatly from acute angle. 86' Another corner to Australia - this time cleared away by Solomons. 89' Goal to Emerton - long clearance by Schwarzer beats defence and Milicic runs into the box, squares to Emerton who slots home. There it is full time and Australia win 6-0 and 11-1 on aggregate to confrim their dominance of Oceania football. A lot of the crowd has stayed behind to see Australia awarded the Oceania Nations Cup Trophy.
