We have had an exciting start to all WRFL Senior competitions this year.
As we pass the half-way point of the season, footy teams across the west are now turning their attention to second half of the season.
Media Manager Kristen Alebakis speaks to all the Division 2 coaches about how they think their club is tracking after nine rounds. Plus we look at their ladder position and percentage this year and last year.

Ladder Position: 3rd
Percentage: 182.34%
This year:
W: 6 L: 1
Ladder Position: 2nd
Percentage: 192.44%
Coach’s comment:
“We are tracking okay at the moment, we have a lot of improvement within the playing group,” coach Dean Callaway said.
“We have had an inconsistent year, but the game on the weekend, especially after quarter time showed that we are heading in the right direction and playing a good brand of footy.
“We always knew it would take a while to gel, we added 13 to 15 new players. It was always going to take time to click, but we are tracking well.”
North Footscray
Last year:

Ladder Position: 2nd
Percentage: 293.03%
This year:
W: 7 L: 0
Ladder Position: 1st
Percentage: 219.18%
Coach’s comment:
“We are pleased with where we sit on the ladder,” president Shaun Brown said.
“We are undefeated in the senior grade and had one or two losses in the Reserves, which is good.
“We are coaching week to week, with an eye on the finals. We aren’t taking any side for granted.
“We have been able to blood three or four teenagers into the team this year, which is an exciting sign for our future.”

W: 3 L: 4
Ladder Position: 3rd
Percentage: 81.86%
Coach’s comment:
“We have been progressing well, but we still have a lot of work to do,” coach Aaron Bradley said.
“The goal for the second half of the year is to keep bridging the gap between us and the top teams.”

This year:
W: 3 L: 4
Ladder Position: 4th
Percentage: 63.36%
Coach’s comment:
“We are not where we thought we would be,” coach Matthew Stoodley said. “But in saying that we are rebuilding for the future.
“We had a shocking loss on the weekend and there were reasons for that.
“In the next part of the season we need to set ourselves up for the future and hopefully our players stick with us. Hopefully we can make finals and then we will see what happens.”

Coach’s comment:
“We are a fair way ahead compared to this time last year,” coach Shane Lucas said.
“We have a new group of players, so we are slowly getting used to playing with each other.
“The win on the weekend was a reward for the players, hopefully that will push us into a good second half of the year.
“If we can score more than one win that would be good, but we want to keep improving.”
This year:

Percentage: 58.07%
Coach’s comment:
“The season has been a little bit disappointing, we expected to have a couple more wins on the board,” coach Hanni Harb said.
“We have had good numbers on the track, but injuries have plagued us. A couple of opportunities to win games have slipped away.
“We need work on our discipline on the field and stop being impulsive, we need to think more.
“In the second half of the year we need to develop those skills and be more measured.”
