We have had an exciting start to all WRFL Senior competitions this year.
As we pass the half-way point of the season, footy teams across the west are now turning their attention to the nine remaining games and also finals.
Below we look at how the Division 3 Clubs are travelling.

Division 3
Braybrook
This time last year:
W: 2 L: 7 D: 0
Ladder Position: 8th
Percentage: 63.14%
2016:
W: 2 L: 6 D: 0
Ladder position: 8th
Percentage: 58.06%
Coach’s comment:
“So far it hasn’t been too bad, we could have played better,”coach Jaime Lane said.
“The goal for the rest of the season is to win more games than we lose and to work more as a team.”
Parkside
This time last year:
W: 4 L: 4 D: 0
Ladder Position: 4th
Percentage: 93.04%
2016:
W: 6 L: 2 D: 0
Ladder position: 3rd
Percentage: 159.96%
Coach’s comment:
“As a club we are progressing well both on and off the ground,” coach Nick Condos said.
“I am happy with how we are progressing.
“The aim now is to win enough games to play finals and we will see what happens from there.”
Tarneit
This time last year:
W: 2 L: 6 D: 1
Ladder Position: 6th
Percentage: 68.02%
2016:
W: 7 L: 1 D: 0
Ladder position: 1st
Percentage: 209.61%
Coach’s comment:
“As a club we are in unfamiliar territory experiencing regular wins in both senior grades and also our junior program,” team manager Adam Taylor said.
“Div 3 is very competitive and we find ourselves contributing to that.
“There is no real expectation other than not to waste the hard work we have put in.”
Newport Power
2016:
W: 7 L: 1 D: 0
Ladder position: 2nd
Percentage: 172.05%
Coach’s comment:
“We are a team that has only been playing with each other for a few months so to be second on the ladder with only one loss is really credit to the boys and the coaching staff and the hard work they have all put in,” coach Mark Williams said.
“We are certainly not getting ahead of ourselves, despite our pleasing start to the year.
“We know we have a long way to go both on and off field to become a great football club.
“Our main goal each week is to play four consistent quarters of hard, good quality footy and to back that up week in week out.”
Laverton
This time last year:
W: 3 L: 5 D: 1
Ladder Position: 5th
Percentage: 83.88%
2016:
W: 0 L: 8 D: 0
Ladder position: 9th
Percentage: 48.97%
Coach’s comment:
“It has been a disappointing start,” coach Paul Growcott said.
“Injuries have hurt us and we are young group so there is inconsistencies, but we are improving. Hopefully we can get a couple of wins in the second half of the season.”
Sanctuary Lakes
This time last year:

Ladder Position: 3rd
Percentage: 137.28%
2016:
W: 5 L: 3 D: 0
Ladder position: 4th
Percentage: 101.32%
Coach’s comment:
“I think the competition is a lot more even and equal this year, any side can win on the day,” coach Lee Spry said.
“The competition has got a lot stronger, it is more even across the board.
“We have lost five players for the season through injury, so our aim is to try and keep everyone healthy and win more games than we lose and sure up a finals spot.”
Sunshine Heights
This time last year: Division 2

Ladder Position: 8th
Percentage: 27.34%
2016: Division 3
W: 4 L: 4
D: 0
Ladder position: 5th
Percentage: 93.52%
Coach’s comment:
“We are on par with our win loss record, so it is a pass mark, “coach Robert Greto said.
“We had a disappointing performance last round, hopefully we can have some momentum in the later part of the season and we can push for a finals spot, that is what we want.
“I think Tarneit is the team to beat.
“It will be tough knocking them off, they were the best team we played so far.”
North Sunshine
This time last year:

Ladder Position: 7th
Percentage: 67.23%
2016:
W: 2 L: 6 D: 0
Ladder position: 7th
Percentage: 86.58%
Coach’s comment:
“The competition is much more competitive than last year, that’s for sure,” coach Joe Larizza said.
“We are not out of finals contention, we only lost to Parkside by 40-points, so we are not far off.”
Wyndham Suns
This time last year:

Ladder Position: 2nd
Percentage: 155.92%
2016:

Ladder position: 6th
Percentage: 79.30%
Coach’s comment:
“We would like the club take the step forward and make finals,” coach Brett Cook said.
“The team needs to believe in themselves. The early trouble we had at the start of the season the team took a step back, so now it is about improving and moving forward.”
