TARNEIT tasted victory for the first time in the WRFL/EDFL Senior Women’s competition, after defeating rivals Glen Orden by three-points.
The Titans have dramatically improved since the first time they met the Hawks back in Round 1 and on Sunday, in-front of their home crowd at Wootten Road Reserve, were able to hold and score their first win.
Tarneit came out firing in the opening quarter, determined to make the most of their opportunities in the early stages of the match and at quarter time had a handy 10-point lead.
The Hawks mounted a fight back in the second term, cutting the margin to just three-points at half-time.
It was an even third term with both teams scoring a goal apiece.
In the final quarter, Glen Orden had their chances to regain the lead, but poor kicking in-front of goal proved costly. They had six shots on goal, all of which were behinds.
Tarneit had just one opportunity at goal and they made the most of it, kicking a goal and sealing a much deserved victory. The final score was 3.5. (23) to 2.8. (20).
Madeline Johnson kicked two goals for Tarneit, Ashleigh Smith booted one goal. Louise Thomas was named best on ground.
In other results, Manor Lakes defeated Pascoe Vale by 59-points.
The Storms impressive first quarter effort is what sealed the win, the team kicked six goals to one, opening up an unattainable 37-point lead.
Kellee Mcintosh kicked four goals in the win. Alysha Bettels also starred.
Keilor’s undefeated season rolled on, with a 193-point thrashing of Roxburgh Park.
The Blues had 50 shots on goal in the Round 12 clash. The final score was 29.21. (195) to 0.2. (2).
Brooke Todero kicked six goals, Sarah and Gemma Wright both kicked five goals each and Jess Atta booted four goals.
Craigieburn kept its finals hopes alive with a win over the VU Western Spurs. The Eagles scored a 40-point win on Saturday. Emma Dowsett was best on ground.
Finally, Sunbury bounced back from their disappointing lost to Keilor last week with a win over Glenroy at Clarke Oval.
The Lions were ruthless in their attack and defence, keeping their opposition scoreless, while booting 11 goals.
Simone Craige was the main target up forward, she kicked four goals for Sunbury.
