YARRAVILLE Seddon’s winning streak is still alive, after defeating Caroline Springs in a nail-biter Yarraville Oval at the weekend.
Throughout the game, the top two teams were playing very similar footy and it was hard to see who was going to come out on top, especially with the number of turnovers both teams produced, but in the end it was the Eagles who finished the game stronger, winning by seven points.
The home side were three points down at the final break, but managed to get ahead and hold onto their lead in the final term.
What may have cost Caroline Springs the game, was that they were not able to make the most of their opportunities in front of goal, particularly in the fourth quarter.
Both teams had the same amount of scoring shots in the final quarter, but it was the Eagles who kicked truly.
Lakers duo David Clark and Todd Lawless put up a good fight against the Eagles and were among the best players on the day, but in the end there efforts weren’t enough.
Yarraville stars Scott Krakouer and Paul Azar, who were the best players on the ground.
This loss will be a disappointing one for Caroline Springs, but if they can learn from it, it’s easy to see that if they can put together a four quarter performance they do have the talent to more than match it with the Eagles.
For Yarraville Seddon, their undefeated status is still in tack after defeating their biggest competition. There is a very real possibility that the Eagles will be able to go the whole home and away season undefeated.
Whilst Manor Lakes sat out for their bye, Albanvale hosted Glen Orden at Robert Bruce Oval, the Hawks were able to get another win on the board, defeating the Cobras 6.5. (41) to 12.8. (80).
In the local derby down at Shorten Reserve, West Footscray went down to North Footscray, as the Devils won 1.1 (7) to 25.18 (168).
This round will be interesting across the board, as the top half of the ladder take on the bottom, whilst Yarraville Seddon will be having a much deserved rest as they have the bye.
Caroline Springs play Albanvale at Town Centre Oval, the last time these two teams met the Lakers defeated the Cobras by over 100 points, so the Cobras will be looking to be on their best performance for this match.
West Footscray are hoping to get their second win on the board as they take on Glen Orden at Heathdale Oval.
Manor Lakes will take on North Footscray.
