We end Round 2 of the WRFL Under-19 season with four unbeaten teams in Caroline Springs, Werribee Districts, the Wyndham Suns and Altona who all recorded impressive victories.
Werribee Districts defeated Hoppers Crossing in a competitive match, the final score was 11.15. (81) to 5.7. (37), thanks to a second quarter domination which was crucial in a game that felt closer at times than the margin suggested.
Both sides displayed periods of dominance in the opening quarter, but were unable to show it on the scoreboard. Unfortunately at the 15-minute mark Werribee's Jarrod Donnon was forced from the field on a stretcher with a leg injury.
Werribee simply controlled the second quarter keeping Hoppers Crossing scoreless with the Warriors doing well to concede only the four goals to trail by 32-points at the main break.
The third quarter was skilful and tough much like the first. The Warriors had a chance to bring it back to 20-points after kicking two of the first three goals of the quarter but Riley Kitchen's shot flew wide.
Late goals to Werribee's Jy Lambley and Adam Harkins made it a 35-point buffer going into the last quarter.
Werribee's Jesse Pattison was a standout with five goals whilst Brandyn Di Sisto and Ryan Larsen marked everything. Lachlan Grant kicked three goals whereas Chase Guy tried hard all game were the best for Hoppers Crossing.
The other results for Round 2 had Caroline Springs recording a 70-point win over St Albans, 13.8. (86) to 2.4. (16) with Jack Taylor kicking four goals.
Altona were too good for Spotswood after quarter time notching up a 62-point win, 13.17. (95) to 5.3 (33).
The Wyndham Suns continued their good form with a 21-point win over Newport with Thomas Duxson kicking five goals.
Albion also defeated Albanvale by 268-points, with Jhoshuar Dean and Jake Leon having impressive days in-front of goal, kicking eight and six goals apiece.
Lastly the Yarraville Seddon Eagles scored a win over Wyndhamvale after they forfeited their match.
In Round 3, Albion will host Spotswood whilst St Albans and Albanvale will aim to get their first wins on the board when they play the Yarraville Seddon Eagles and the Wyndham Suns.
