ST.ALBANS
After another disappointing end to its finals campaign, the Saints are ready to learn from their mistakes and build on their strengths heading into a fresh year of football.
With a few new faces joining its ranks over summer, St.Albans coach Marcus Barclay says the team is excited to put their hard work to the test.
Teams fielding in 2015:
Seven teams this season
How has the pre-season been?
Our pre-season has been solid, very structural and game specific. We’ve done a lot of team building exercises and our new players have fitted in extremely well, so we’re all excited for the season ahead.
Who are some of the noteworthy signings for 2015?
Harrison Fotia
Jeremy Murphy
Ben Brennan
Brad Slater
Aiden Elkasevic
Anthony Piva
Anthony Christaforo
What are your expectations for the new season?
After being eliminated in the first final the last two years, the goal is to again play finals football but progress further into finals action.
Who are some of the young up and coming players to look out for this year?
Mitch Bongiovanni, Adam Sullivan, Anthony Fawcus, Reece Penetas, Tommy Stewart, Dean Willie – all keen to establish themselves as quality senior footballers.
Any coaching changes?
Vin Turconivich – Senior Assistant and James Perkin (midfield) are two new additions to the coaching group. Vin has a fitness background so has been great in bringing a fitness professionalism to the group. James has been involved in both playing and coaching (juniors) at the club so is looking forward to progressing into the senior ranks.
2015 Captain:
Tim Jenkins will once again lead the side, with a leadership group to be announced following our practice games.
Upcoming events:
The club will once again be hosting the annual Good Friday Football event against Hoppers Crossing.
We’re hoping a number of Saints fans will come down to Kings Park Reserve on Friday April 3- to not only support the club, but to dig deep and get behind an important cause.
