With transfers officially opening up on Feb 1, there has already been plenty of news from Week #1, with a number of key players moving on in 2015.
Check out what's making news at your favourite club from the week (Feb 2-6) below:
DIVISION ONE
Deer Park
Dual premiership player Shylo Smith has sought new opportunities this season at the EDFL’s Essendon Doutta Stars, while teammate Jackson Barling is headed to fellow EDFL club Maribyrnong Park. Also moving on from John McLeod Oval is Shaun Harrison who is headed to the Macedon Football Club in the Riddle District Football League.
Hoppers Crossing
Warrior fans are sure to miss the leadership and presence of Kade Carey this season after putting in a request to head to the Essendon Doutta Stars. The 31-year-old nephew of AFL great Wayne Carey will return to the EDFL where he played three seasons with the Stars between 2006-2008.
Parkside
A favourite among Magpie fans, Guy Barbuto has put in a transfer to Keilor. Named amongst the best for the Magpies on 10 occasions in 2014, Barbuto will no doubt be a welcomed return to the EDFL. Fellow premiership teammates Luke Buttigieg and Adrian Gervasi have also flown the coop to head to the EDFL with the Doutta Stars. Buttigieg had an outstanding 2014 season, named in the Division Two Team of the Year while Gervasi also had a stellar season, picking up the 2014 Rex Swann medal.
Spotswood
After a number of seasons with the green and gold, 2014 interleague captain Jason Cloke is departing McLean Reserve to play with the EDFL’s Craigieburn Football Club with brother Cameron while fellow interleague teammate Justin Dorward is heading north to play with the Bendigo Football League’s Castlemaine Football Club.
St.Albans
In addition to the inclusion of Deer Park's Shaun Harrison, the Macedon Football Club will also be topped up with the arrivals of former Werribee VFL swingman and St.Albans tall Teghan Henderson and Damien Fitzpatrick. Spending the last decade with the Saints and playing close to 300-career games, Fitzpatrick’s departure is sure to be a loss while Henderson’s silky skills in the centre will also be missed at Kings Park. Fellow Saint Jack Simms is also looking to move on in 2015, heading to the RDFL’s Rockbank Football Club.
Sunshine
Five-time club Best and Fairest winner and former Barry Priest medallist Russell Douglas and 2014 senior interleague representative player Lucas Hill are looking to head elsewhere in 2015 as they both make a transfer to play with the Colbinabbin FNC in the Heathcote District Football League. Arriving at the Roos in 2012, Hill will return to Colbinabbin FNC where he had two solid seasons with the seniors in 2007-2008.
DIVISION TWO
Glen Orden
Corey Edwards will be heading down the freeway this season after putting in a request to join North Footscray. Playing the majority of his football with the Hawks since he was a junior, the 21-year-old will look to provide youth into the Devils in 2015.
DIVISION THREE
Braybrook
Division Three Grand Final best on ground player Matt Bellingham will swap his red and black sash for a red and white jumper this seasin as he looks to head to Division Two with the North Footscray Football Club. 2011 club Best and Fairest winner Terry Sinclair also looks to be departing Pennell Reserve after putting in a transfer to West Footscray. Despite the outs, the Brookers will welcome two new faces in Scotty O'Neill after departing from the North Sunshine FC as well as 24-year-old Nathan Callja from West Footscray FC.
Sanctuary Lakes
Club leading goal kicker Matthew Davis is trying his hand at Division One football as he leaves the Sharks to play with Altona FC. Davis returns to the Vikings where he played his junior football and spent time in the Under 18s.
