Western Region Football League Junior Heartland Ambassador Jordan Roughead is leading a new crop of young talent in 2015, after being announced as the Western Bulldogs new Vice-Captain yesterday.
The 24-year-old defender will join a fresh looking leadership team including former WRFL junior player Tom Liberatore (St. Bernard’s FC), Dale Morris, Matthew Boyd and captain Robert Murphy.
“Roughead’s a really respected young man, he’s been at the club for a number of years now,” senior coach Luke Beveridge told westernbulldogs.com.au
“It’s a great sign that our younger players are progressing, they’re maturing.”
It is that leadership and respect for others which has seen Roughead as the Western Region Football League’s Junior Heartland Ambassador since its inception two years ago.
Involving all junior players from the Under 9- Under 14 competitions, the weekly Heartland Award is presented to one player who the opposition coach deems showed the most sportsmanship, determination and respect for others.
Despite his new vice captain responsibilities, Roughead will continue to promote good sportsmanship and leadership to WRFL junior players as the Heartland Ambassador in 2015.
