The WRFL has identified female football as both a key strategic item as well as an area that a number of clubs are currently exploring for the first time. In addition to the anticipated growth of the respective junior girls’ programs in 2018, the league expects to launch a standalone senior women’s competition.

To better support and drive the development of female football, a series of club development workshops will be facilitated over this off-season. The workshops are all-encompassing and aimed at those within the WRFL community wishing to either introduce female football or enhance their existing program(s).

Such people may include the club president, administrator, coaches or perhaps someone else tasked specifically with growing female football in your club – irrespective, clubs can send up to five representatives to the workshop.

The workshops will focus on the key skills and strategies required to effectively build healthy and sustainable female football programs, with topics to include (but not limited to):

  • Key recruitment initiatives;
  • Promotion and sponsorship;
  • Gaining other funding specific to female participation;
  • Other key learnings from the most successful female programs;
  • Leadership and coaching/skills fundamentals.

The WRFL is pleased to announce Chyloe Kurdas as the primary facilitator of the sessions. Chyloe was formerly AFL Victoria’s Female Football Development Manager, and brings over 15 years of experience in growing female football at grassroots level.

Chyloe will provide WRFL clubs with tailored learnings, and will be ably supported by other guests for specific sessions. The knowledge, support and resources shared will be exclusive to WRFL clubs.

The first session is scheduled for 6.30pm on Monday 16 October at Yarraville Club, 135 Stephen St Yarraville.

Please RSVP by completing the following form no later than Wednesday October 11 – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HN3SYZV
