Matt competed at the NSW Schoolboys State Trials as part of the Northern NSW team along with three fellow Northern Rivers players. The Carnival was held over three days showcasing the talent of over 200 players. Matt ticked all the boxes as he was selected as one of 25 players to go on to represent NSW.
The National Championships will be hosted by Darwin in August where Matt will have the opportunity to compete against the best U15 talent Australia has to offer.
"I am really passionate about AFL footy and it was a rush to get picked in the side. I'm looking forward to playing against some of the best U15s around."
The team will meet in Canberra in 2 weeks for a training session and practice match against the ACT team. In August the team will meet in Sydney to train with the Sydney Swans, soon after flying to Darwin for the carnival.
Matt plays for Burleigh Heads during the season but is an extremely valued umpire of AFLNRJ. We wish him all the best and look forward to hearing of his experience upon his return.
