Thunderbolts v Rabbitohs Jersey Flegg Preview

By Matt Hughes (NRL Vic Media)

The Victoria Thunderbolts under 20s will be aiming to bounce back from last week’s disappointing one-point loss to the North Sydney Bears, when they face the South Sydney Rabbitohs on the Central Coast on Sunday.

Against the Rabbitohs, the Victorian’s held a 16 to ten-point lead over the Bears right up until the 57th minute, before a converted try drew the scores level. The scores remained that way with five minutes to go, before Bears’ fullback Corey Fenning kicked a field goal, sealing the game.

Both sides scored three tries on the day, with Trent Toelau, Saimone Ahomana and Nikau Williams crossing for the Victorians. Captain Matt Stimson had a good day with the boots, converting two of the three tries.

The loss leaves the Thunderbolts in 12th spot, with two rounds to go. A win against the Rabbitohs could potentially move them as high as 11th.

The Rabbitohs on the other hand are sitting in fourth only two points behind the first-placed Sharks.

Despite the loss the Thunderbolts’ are coming off a great month of football, featuring two wins and will go in confident that they can compete with their higher ranked opponents.

The Thunderbolts’ side is relatively unchanged from last week’s game.

Kick off is 12.05pm at Central Coast Stadium.
