This Saturday June 8 the Victoria Stormers will be hosting a rugby league Masters gala day, at Haines Drive Reserve, Wyndamvale.

The event is one of a series of Masters days that the Stormers hold throughout the year. The most recent event was held in Doveton last month. To play Masters rugby league men must be 35 or older and women must be 30 or older.

There is 12 men’s and two women’s sides registered for the Werribee event. Each team will play two games over the day, with a break between for kids’ activities.

Masters organiser Tavale Ilalio is looking forward to a good day.

“It’s a great family day out,” he said.

“It gets people moving and connecting with each other.”

“There’s a great vibe around the whole day.”

After the footy, players and spectators are encouraged to attend the Master Blaster Fundraiser at the Werribee Bears Rugby league club, which runs from 3 pm until late. This is a family-friendly event and is a great opportunity to share stories from the day. It will include a live DJ performing, giveaways, raffles, cheap meals, drinks and the NRL on the big screen.

The day starts with a 9.30 am team ceremony, before the first games kick off at 10 am.
