Round 15 Women's First Grade Preview

With this week being the last of the home-and-away season, teams will be determined to close the season out on a win.

Truganina Rabbitohs v Doveton Steelers

Truganina responded is superb fashion last week after being defeated the week before, eclipsing the South Eastern Titans, 64-6. Aurelia Futi dominated last week, scoring a hat-trick of tries, while Te Aroha Hapuku scored a double to take her season total to nine tries for the season.

While for Doveton, having already booked a place in the Finals, the chance of finishing second by the end of the round will be intriguing. Sitting a point behind second placed Casey, a win here could propel the Steelers to a top-two finish. However, they were disappointing last week against the Altona Roosters, in a battle for third spot, the Steelers weren’t able to get their game going, falling 30-6.

Werribee Bears v Casey Warriors

Second-placed Warriors will be looking to solidify in second place, with a clash with the Werribee Bears. With both teams having a break last week, both will be refreshed and ready to attack in this clash, with a loss possibly costing Casey a double-chance.

Krystel Williams has been in scintillating form, scoring seven tries to lead her team for the season, while for the Bears, Najvada George has scored five tries in her seven appearances.

Altona Roosters v Northern Thunder

Due to a Northern Thunder forfeit, Altona get a huge boost from this game with a win giving them a likely second spot and a chance to play the Major Semi Final against Truganina in Week 1 of the finals. Altona will jump into second with the walkover win, and on for and against, they will put pressure on Casey to defeat Werribee by over 30 points in order to keep their second place on the ladder.

Predictions:

Truganina Rabbitohs v Doveton Steelers – Rabbitohs by 12

Werribee Bears v Casey Warriors – Casey by 6

Altona Roosters vs Northern Thunder – Altona Win by FORFEIT

South Eastern Titans - BYE
