Victoria well primed for assault on Capras

By Tate Spiteri

The Victorian U20 FOG’s team are well primed for a big performance this week when they meet the CQ Capras at Casey Fields.

While they fell agonizingly short of their first win of the season last week, going down 28-26 to Wynumm it was a big improvement from the 36-10 opening round loss to Tweed Heads.

“They (the U20s) were unlucky not to get the 2 points. They competed really hard and that is what we are after from this program- effort and improvement each week” Pathways and Coaching manager Ryan Walker said.

Similarly, their opposition put in a much improved performance last week defeating the struggling Burleigh Bears 24-20 to make amends for the 6-42 hiding they were given by the Redcliffe Dolphins the week before.

The match will be the Victorians final chance to win in front of their home fans with three consecutive away trips to Norths Devils, Western Mustangs and East Tigers looming.

The U18s will also be hoping to start the run of roadtrips with some momentum.

The Mal Meninga Cup team have a chance to go 2-1 on the ledger when they meet the undefeated Capras in the early game at Casey Fields

They will be hoping to pick up where they left off last week as they stormed home with 28 unanswered points to defeat a stunned Wynnum 48-18.

The U18s Capras started the season with a massive 60-16 win over Central Crows before tighter wins against Redcliffe Dolphins and Burleigh Bears respectively.

The U18s will kick off at Casey Fields at 9:45am and the U20s at 11:20am.
