The best players from the world of rugby league will be converging around Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in 2017 with the Rugby League World Cup kicking off in Melbourne in just under a year on October 27, 2017. 

Melbourne is set to host the opening match of the tournament with a blockbuster match between host country Australia and England on October 27. In addition to that clash, a quarterfinal is also scheduled to be played on November 19 in Melbourne with the winner of Group C taking on the runner-up in Group A.

It is also of great note that a Womens World Cup will be running cocurrently with the mens tournament, this is great news for women playing rugby league around the participating countries and adds another level for our young women and girls to aspire to when playing rugby league. Pool matches and semi finals will be held in Sydney with the Womens Rugby League World Cup Final being played at a double header with the mens final on December 2, 2017.
