The 2016 season has again been a great celebration of all things Rugby League in Victoria. As was evident at the Grand Final and Gala days there is such a vibrant cultural mix within our Rugby League Community.
The Country of Origin event has traditionally provided an opportunity to celebrate this multiculturalism. This year NRL Victoria decided to re-visit the format and meaning of Country of Origin and with the support of some key community members put together a set of values which we felt represent the true essence of the event.
We have made a decision that due to the re-vamping of the event and challenges we have faced in determining a venue and an appropriate date that we are going to postpone the Country of Origin until 2017. This will allow us to plan and deliver a festival that truly captures the cultural makeup of our great game and community in Victoria.
NRL Victoria sees the delivery of Country of Origin as a true partnership with the communities that play Rugby League and we want to work together to deliver the event from 2017 and beyond. We will be looking to these communities to support delivery of Country of Origin so please keep an eye out for upcoming communication.
