All accommodation, meals and transport will be the responsibility of the players although some assistance will be provided for transport for local players arriving from within Fiji.


For overseas players there are affordable buses and taxis available within Suva to the competition venue. For overseas players, NZ has direct flights from Auckland to Suva and there are also twice weekly direct flights from Sydney to Suva while other overseas destinations need to come by way of Nadi International Airport with direct flights from Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Seoul. There are cheap air-conditioned buses from the Nadi Airport to Suva on Coral Sun and Pacific Express. Alternatively there are taxis and domestic flights to Suva.


There is a range of available accommodation on the www.fijitourism.com or www.bulafijinow.com websites ranging from school dormitories, backpacker/hostels, budget hotels and 4 star hotels or you could check out the other websites mentioned below.


There are many shops, local markets with fresh fruits and food outlets within walking distance of the venue which are quite cheap.


For other activities and holidaying after the events there are a number of resorts and hotels in Nadi (where the airport is), Pacific Harbour and the Coral Coast as well as many smaller island resorts and day cruise activities. Also there are places to visit in Suva, including the Suva Markets, the Museum, the cinemas and entertainment strips, guided city tours etc. These information and options are all available on the Fiji Visitors Bureau and Tourism Fiji websites or individual resorts and tour operators or you may email us if you want us to check on the options and costs

There are two halls next to each other with Hall No 1 having 8 tables and Hall No 2 having 4 tables (including a show-court). This will be reduced to 4 tables in Hall No 1 and 2 tables in Hall No 2 when the Men’s Open and Women’s Open Singles Round Robin and Open Doubles knockout stages commence on Day 5. All Men’s and Women’s Singles from Quarter-finals onwards will be played in Hall No 1 on Day 6.



Only registered members of FTTA and players affiliated to ITTF member countries are eligible. Payment of the entry fees will qualify Fiji residents as a member of FTTA.


Eligibility for all events is determined by age as at 31/12/15 for all players. Proof of age may be required.



Entries must be submitted no later than Friday 15 January 2016 for all events to Anthony Ho either by post, email or fax.


Entries must be accompanied by the correct entry fees which are payable to Fiji Table Tennis in cash or cheque or deposited directly and marked “2016 Fiji Open” in the Fiji Table Tennis Bank account under the following:

Fees are refundable if advice of a withdrawal is received by FTTA no later than 2 days after the closing date.


FTTA reserves the right to refuse any entry and to vary restrictions at its discretion.


Both players in doubles pairing must submit separate individual entries for the doubles event. Players enter at their own risk and no responsibility will be accepted for any injury received during the tournament.


Each player can enter up to 3 consecutive age group events for singles and 3 consecutive age group event for doubles.


Entry fees F$ 5 per person per event, except for the Open Singles events which is $10 per person. Doubles are $5 per person per event, except for Open Doubles events which are $10 per person per event.



For singles events, section play shall be conducted on a round robin basis, followed by post-section knock-out play to which some players may be granted direct entry.


Round robins will be groups of 4 where possible with 2 players to qualify for the main draw and 2 for the consolation event. Consolation events will be held in singles events if time permits. For doubles events, seeded knock-out draws shall be conducted except where less than 10 pairs have entered. The round-robin format may then be used. Any event with less than 4 singles entries or 3 doubles pairs may be cancelled or varied at the discretion of FTTA.


The seeding will be based on the current South Pacific or Oceania Ranking list or if not available, ITTF ratings and latest results at Pacific Games, Oceania Championships and Oceania Junior events.


Players who are ranked in the top eight in Fiji according the South Pacific Open rankings or competitions in 2015 and who have already won the B Grade are not eligible to enter the B Grade events. Overseas players are also not eligible to enter the B Grade or Mixed C Grade events.


Players with a Pacific rating below 100 are eligible to participate in the C Grade, between 100 and 350 in the B Grade for Men’s events and between 100 and 200 in the B grade for Women’s events but maybe restricted at the discretion of the FTTA organizing committee.


Overseas players are eligible to enter only in the age group and Open events.



All matches shall be best of 5 including doubles events during the round robin and knockoutstages except for the Men’s and Women’s Open Singles which are best of 7 during the knockout stage.



Trophies or medals and a certificate will be presented to all winners and runners-up for each event except for any consolation events where only certificates will be awarded.
