Update from Indy

Fiji Swimmers at the FINA Junior World Swimming Championships in Indianapolis USA are doing their best to set new PBs and establish new Fiji records.

After 2 days of competition, two new records have been established.

  • Bronze medallist at the Commonwealth Youth Games, Taichi Vakasama set a new record in the Open Mens 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:11.44, breaking the 18 year old record of 2:12.18 set by Carl Probert way back in 1999.
  • Netani Ross set a new 15 - 16 Boys 100m Backstroke in a time of 1:02.42, breaking his own record of 1:03.90 set earlier this year.

Rokowati Mara smashed her own personal best time in the 100m Freestyle by 4 seconds, while Rosemary Rova, Eugene Kado and Temafa Yalimaiwai are swimming close to their best times.

Competition continues tomorrow at the Indiana University Natatorium and finishes on 28 August.
