The seemingly unbeatable Tracy Village Jets racked up their 24th win in a row by knocking off the Eagles 69-40. The Birds put together two qood quarters, but still trailed by 17 heading into the last quarter. Unfortunately for the Birds the Bombers lifted again to fly past them with a 14-4 run to keep their season record unblemished at 8-0. Supporting Docherty-Cole with 14 was Kylie Duggan. Graham (13.8ppg) hit 11 as did Michelle Friel with Molly Althouse adding 10.

League Men – Rd 11 - Thursday – Lightning v Tracy Village Jets

Lightning moved into fourth place on the ladder with a convincing 97-66 win over the struggling Tracy Village Jets. Lightning powered out to a 27-18 first quarter lead and then really kicked into gear with a 25-9 second quarter run that set them up for just their fourth win of the season. They led 52-27 at half time. Dylan De Santis was having a field day from outside the arc as he nailed 5 treys in his 17 point output while backing up Alex Kisselev (29.6ppg) who hit a game high 37 and Craig Martin (25.4ppg) who tallied 25. The Jets got 16 from Travis Ellis (22.8ppg), 15 from Darrin Weetra and 14 from Liam MacLachlan.

The second placed Eagles won their third game in a row as they downed the Palmerston Power 93-65. The league’s leading scorer, Alex Fertig, led the Birds with 41 as they took to the air in the first half to lead 47-32. The second half was much the same as the Eagles continued to press home their advantage. Fertig (39ppg) got help from Joseph Johnson (24.5ppg) who popped in 25 points. For the Power Shaquille Hohipa-Wilson (14.5ppg) had 18, Ben Streeter 16 and Jesse Bell 13.

Razzle v Uni Rebels

The Razzle continue to put up big numbers, but the opposition is always in front at the end of the game? Defense. The Uni Rebels hit the tonne with a 104-88 victory, but the Green & Gold still put up numbers that should win games. Chad Bewley (26.3ppg) hit a season high 41 for the Rebels with Jerrell Sanders on 17 and Jake Kirby & Michael Garton on 15 apiece. The Rebels led 54-42 at half time, but it was more than enough to take out the win as the Razzle failed to step up to the challenge. Reed Ridder hit a team high 24 (including 5 treys) for the Razzle with Brendan Dell on 21 and Nathan Radonich on 14.

Saturday 24 September Rd 12

Undefeated Ansett had to pull out the stops to get past the upset minded Uni Rebels in their match-up on Saturday. The Blues held on to a 107-95 victory, but they had to work for it. Five players in double figures helped the cause with Jerron Jamerson (38.6ppg) leading the way with 31. But the Rebels were also putting up some big numbers with Jerron Sanders (26.2ppg) taking game high scoring honours with 36. However, the Blues bounced back from a ‘not good enough’ first quarter to flash past the Rebels in the second quarter with a 31-12 outburst that put them up on top at the break 51-36. That buffer was enough to keep the Rebels in check despite a 33-29 run in the last quarter. The Rebels never got closer than 12 in the second half. Jamerson got help from Brad Davis 22, Joseph Stewart 18, Freddy Webb 12 and Jai O’Shaughnessy 11. Chad Bewley added 24 for the Rebels with Jake Kirby 13 and Michael Garton 12.

Razzle v Lightning

Lightning almost hit a tonne when they dispatched the Razzle 97-65 for their second consecutive win. Alex Kisselev kicked his average up a notch with another 30+ game. Kisselev hit 34 to be now at 29.6ppg…3rd in the competition. The Lightning put the Razzle on the back foot early with a 25-11 run and then just kept piling on the points for the rest of the game. Kisselev had support from Dylan De Santis (who is on a two game scoring binge) who hit a season high 21 @ 9.4ppg (including 5 treys) and Cameron Bailey 18. Reed Ridder (28ppg) stood out for the Razzle with a game high 36 and Brendan Dell added 12.

Palmerston Power v Tracey Village Jets

Palmerston Power outgunned the Tracy Village Jets to easily win their contest 97-70. An explosion of treys from both sides kept the game entertaining, but the Power was doing much more than shooting three pointers. Both sides hit 12 treys during the game, but the Power outmuscled the Bombers inside the keyway as they hit 26 two pointers to just 12 for the Bombers. Jerrod Sheppard (12ppg) had his best outing of the competition as he hit a game high 28, Fisto Bizima (14.8ppg) hit 28 and Ben Streeter 21 (all of them guards). For the Jets Travis Ellis had 20, Darrin Weetra 15 (all from treys) and Joel Stevens 13.
