STADIUM WILL BE CLOSED FROM SUNDAY 9TH APRIL (EXCEPT FOR FILO LEAGUE AND ACADEMY TRAINING) AND WILL REOPEN ON TUESDAY 18TH
The first part of the renovations of the DBA stadium (including Spectrum) will commence with the HiBay lights being replaced with LED lighting. Contrary to some comments, this is not being done to increase revenue, it is being done to improve lighting, reduce energy consumption and reduce heat output. Savings on lighting and electricity will assist in preventing exhorbitant fee increases. This is NOT the only work being done on the project, but will be the first scope of works as it is at the highest level. There will be future major works done on ALL courts including resurfacing. We need to have the lights done first as we will have machinery on the floors and don't want to do that on new surfaces. We will be having major work done on the air conditioning, however we will not be air conditioning Courts 3,4 and 5 despite the wonderful suggestions of insulating these areas with cardboard. We will be utilising the funds in as many priority areas as possible including the installation of a BIG ASS fan in courts 1 and 2 to reduce the dependency on air conditioning and increase air flow. Renovations will NOT be completed until the end of July as we are trying to minimise disruptions to games. Please understand that any short term disruptions are for long term gains. If you have some suggestions on future improvements, please do not hesitate in emailling firstname.lastname@example.org, understanding that from concept plans to quotes, applications and finances often takes 12 months. These major renovations do NOT happen overnight and need a facility planning approach.
