ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SPONSORS AND STAKEHOLDERS

The Shooting Association of Fiji (SAF) is proud of the outstanding performance of Fiji Shooters competing in the XV PNG Pacific Games in Port Moresby, and is greatly indebted to FASANOC, Fiji National Sports Commission and its sponsors Goodman Fielder and Williams & Gosling, for their generous support in making possible the historic gold medal win by Fiji’s first pistol team to the Pacific Games. Faiyum Khan won the first pistol Gold medal for Fiji in the individual 25m standard pistol event, and the three member team of Faiyum Khan, Nihal Naicker and Daniel Wah, were placed second in the 10 m Air Pistol event on day one and third in the mixed 25m .22 pistol mixed event on day two. The team was placed second 25m standard pistol event on day three to add to the individual Gold medal won by Fiji's Khan.

SAF thanks Goodman Fielder and Williams & Gosling for their insightful confidence in a yet untested team of young first time competition shooters who went to the Games with little expectation of being placed - let alone winning gold, and to take an individual GOLD, two team SILVERS and a team BRONZE medal in the pistol events, was far beyond expectation.

This historic winning team trained in the Williams & Gosling Staff Gym that was especially modified under the instruction of Dave Aidney to support the team’s specific requirements for air pistol training. The team’s training ammunition and uniforms were generously supplied by Goodman Fielder Fiji and the Team was affectionately nicknamed "The UFO Fiji Shooting Team".

The Fiji DTL team of Glenn Kable, Christian Stephen, AdarshDatt and Quintyn Stephen won the individual gold, silver and team gold in Day one of the DTL competitions. Glenn Kable won individual Gold, Christian Silver and the Team gold in the Single Rise event.

The Pacific Games record set in 2003 in SUVA by Glenn Kable was broken during the double barrel event yesterday (Thursday 9th). Two Fiji Shooters and a French Polynesian shooter, shot the perfect score of 100/100. Glenn Kable, Christian Stephen and Moeava Bambridge went into a shoot off for the top position. The new games record now  stands at 121.
