OLYMPIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR ATHLETES TOKYO 2020 APPLICATION OPPORTUNITY
FASANOC is inviting applications from athletes practising an individual sport on the Summer Olympic Games programme for Tokyo 2020. The scholarships will commence September 2017.
The scholarship is for a limited number of elite international-level athletes with the objective to assist in preparing them for qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Athletes must have the technical level and realistic potential to be able to qualify for Tokyo 2020. Proof of the athlete's technical sports level must be shown through results obtained at national and international competitions.
Prioritisation of applications by FASANOC will be given to athletes with International Federation ranking plus their current level and immediate past sporting experience at 2016 Olympic Games, 2015 Pacific Games, Oceania and International Federation competitions 2015-2017. Athletes must be a member of the national squad for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games if their sport is on the programme.
Athletes who have been convicted of a doping offence or sanctioned for actions contrary to the standards of sporting ethics as established by the Olympic Charter, the IOC, NOCs or training centres may NOT be put forward as a candidate.
Attached is the IOC Application form. Note that the candidate must also include a brief on their sporting background and motivation for a scholarship. The form must be endorsed by the National Federation and include a copy of the candidate's passport and passport photo (preferably electronic version).
The IOC will make the final decision in consultation with the relevant International Federations. National Federations are also invited to submit nominations for future funding for other targeted high performing athletes who have the potential to qualify for Tokyo 2020. Nominations on the attached forms, with details of their for 4-year preparation plans plus annual budgets are to be returned to FASANOC by Friday 19 May 2017. Candidates may be required to attend an interview.
