TWO RIO OLYMPIC AUSTRALIAN HOCKEYROOS VISITED PORTVILA!

The Vanuatu Hockey Federation was so privilage to have two Australian National Hockeyroos players to Port Vila who took part in the Rio Olympic 2016, Jane Claxton (Captain) and Rachel Lynch (Goal Keeper). Jane and Rachel's visit was funded by the Australian Government, FIH and OHF.

The clinic program involved over 55 kids U12 - U18 from three different communities and National squad later in the evening. Jane and Rachel were assisted by Hockey Development Officers Nasse Maltungtung, Hiro Namu and Hiko Fungavaka who were in a Development officcers workshop program that was runned by the Oceania Hockey Federation CDO Gill Gemming. The Development Officers were so lucky to work along side the two girls, observing and doing practical sessions as part of their training.

The clinic program was a very successful one because Jane and Rachel helped to do a inside session with the female players providing them with the opportunity to discuss and anwer questions about women in sport which inspired and motivated everyone to play hockey. It was a very big achievement for the Vanuatu Hockey Federation to have high level players like Jane and Rachel to come and help coach and as a result inspired many and a now role models to young hockey players in port vila. Big thanks to the Australian Government, FIH and OHF.
