Hockey finally touches down on Tanna Island!!!

Mr Nasse Maltungtung ran a one week Hockey outreach program in Loupukas village north of Tanna during Christmas season from December 19 - 24 2016, with alot of kids who participated including other kids from nearby villages who have to walk 5 km with the interest to participate in the program.

The outreach program was a very successful one said Mr Maltungtung. there were many kids who participated age 7 - 15 years old. The people of Loupukas village showed interest and were very pleased to learn of the new sport. With the outreach program, the Villages are so proud to be the first village to play hockey in tanna island.

However, Mr Maltuntung said that the biggest achievement in this outreach program, was that we now have two local Coaches Nekis Iauko and Mary Jonny which he trained during his one week outreach program. They will be training the kids every saturdays and are to send reports and photos each month to the VHF in PortVila.

Mr Maltungtung has already spoted some good Hockey players (Girls and Boys) in Tanna. The VHF is looking forward to bring those players from Tanna to PortVila to train in the national junior team and play in the future internatinal tournaments.
