2012 Oceania Pacific Cup News - Cyclone Survival and a Bronze Medal

After an exciting but tiring week on the hockey field at the Pacific Games in Suva, Fiji, the Vanuatu Hockey team have now found themselves stranded in Suva due to Cyclone Evan.

The mens and womens team performed fantastically throughout the week, with the boys coming home with a bronze medal, and the girls improving fantastically to narrowly miss out in the bronze medal match to Samoa.

The teams were extremely impressive, with all competitors being surprised by the high standard and improvement Vanuatu demonstrated on the Hockey field.

Unfortunately the team were just out of luck, arriving at the Suva national airport on Sunday morning to find that their flight could not leave till the earliest Tuesday morning.

The Fiji Hockey committee, lead by Fiji Hockey President Robin Mitchel has been a fantastic help, organising accommodation and food drops. The VHF would like to warmly thank Hockey Fiji for thier support in this challenging time.
