Vanuatu Men's Team to Compete for World Ranking Points

Oceania Hockey Development Officer and OPC Tournament Manager, Gill Gemming, is over the moon with Vanuatu competing. "Congratulations goes out to Vanuatu Hockey for taking up the call to become the next Pacific Island Nation to attend the OPC and I'm sure they will do their country proud", Gemming stated.

This is a boon for sport development in Vanuatu, providing another pathway in a new sport for the youth of Vanuatu to represent their country in an Olympic sport. While VHF President, Onis Namu, is realistic about Vanuatu's chances, he is very optimistic for the future of Vanuatu hockey. "It will be a great learning experience for the boys and we also hope to be able to field a women's team also in the tournament next year", Namu said.

Vanuatu Hockey would like to thank the following sponsors for their ongoing support: Mangoes Resort, National Youth Council, Silverline Transport, The Havannah, Shefa Province, National Bank of Vanuatu, Wan Smolbag, Ridgway Blake Lawyers, QBE Vanuatu, Wilco, Air Vanuatu, VASANOC, Iririki Resort, Gryphon, Julie MacDonald and the Department of Youth, Sport, Development and Training and wish the men all the very best at the tournament.
