THE Vanuatu Hockey Association (VHA) in Port Vila, Vanuatu has made another outreach school visit this week to three schools on the east side of Efate.

The hockey players, trainers and coaches visited Eton primary school, Epau primary school and Ekipe primary school, which are some of the schools where they usually run their programs and activities.

The VHA team were joined by a group of students from Flinders University in South Australia.

Hockey coach Todd Kitto, sports development officer Nasse Maltungtung, senior women’s hockey player Hellen Kaweil, U14 female player Nibina Job and the Flinders University students participated in the outreach program.

“The Flinders University students from Adelaide have come to Vanuatu for one month and are doing placement with the Vanuatu Hockey Federation, and they include five physical education students and three tourism students working on different projects,” said Mr Kitto.

The group made their first stop at the Eton primary school, where they joined school children in training and fun activities from that village.

“We are running these school programs because we want to have a long term program through these kinds of sporting activities,” said Nasse Maltungtung.

Mr Kitto said that they have been visiting these school students for some years, so most of the kids know how to play and they really enjoy the sport.

Wan Smol Bag is the major funder for this outreach program.

Plenty of action on the field.
