Vanuatu Defeats Suva Presidents XI

In the first representative XI a side match for the fledgling Pacific team, Vanuatu lead 2 - 0 at half time. After some adjustment to the full field format of the game Vanuatu quickley settled into their fast passing style of play. The team enjoyed the wide space that the full field version of the game provides and there were many sizzling dashes up the wing in attack. For a team used to the small spaces of the sixes format and the shorter game time Vanuatu settled in well against the more experienced opposition. However the increase in space and the full 90 minute game time began to catch up with Vanuatu and they were put under great pressure in the late stages of the game, managing to hold out to keep a clean slate in defence thanks to some solid defence and a strong effort in goals. Many thank to the Fiji Hockey Federation for organising the oppurtunity and opposition.
