Preparations are under way for Oceania Intercontinental cup in Sydney Australia.The Mens team will be hoping to go more better than the silver they won at last year in world league round 1! Team to be announced soon! Hopefully both Men and Women team will be competed in the tournament.
Vanuatu Men's Team to Compete for World Ranking Points
Oceania Hockey Development Officer and OPC Tournament Manager, Gill Gemming, is over the moon with Vanuatu competing. "Congratulations goes out to Vanuatu Hockey for taking up the call to become the next Pacific Island Nation to attend the OPC and I'm sure they will do their country proud", Gemming stated.
This is a boon for sport development in Vanuatu, providing another pathway in a new sport for the youth of Vanuatu to represent their country in an Olympic sport. While VHF President, Onis Namu, is realistic about Vanuatu's chances, he is very optimistic for the future of Vanuatu hockey. "It will be a great learning experience for the boys and we also hope to be able to field a women's team also in the tournament next year", Namu said.
