Member Release

The Sunshine Coast Basketball Association was officially approved by Basketball Queensland on February 17, 2015. This is the result of years of consultation between the existing associations on the Sunshine Coast. The outcome is a federation of the Noosa Cyclones, the Suncoast Clippers and the Caloundra Heat under the new entity, the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association (SCBA).

The purpose of the federation is primarily to improve the standard of basketball on the Sunshine Coast. The existing associations will continue to operate, becoming affiliated associations or clubs under the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association banner. All members from these clubs will be registered under SCBA, with membership numbers of over 1300, putting us in the top 5 Associations in Queensland for member numbers.

We would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Sports Federation's Benny Pike and Graeme Murphy for their support, and also Basketball Queensland's CEO, Graham Burns, who has provided guidance in establishing SCBA and engaged BQ's legal team to provide advice on setting up our structure.

The naming competition for the new Association has now been launched with details on the web page and Facebook.  Help us find a unique team name, uniform colours and logo for the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association.  Great prizes on offer See link below.

Planning is now underway to establish the Sunshine Coast Basketball League (SCBL) a regional competition involving teams and players from all three clubs.  The Board is also establishing committees to plan this and the transition of junior and senior representative teams to the new SCBA over the next 2 years.  Input from interested members would be appreciated.  Please email the web contact to register your interest to assist on a subcommittee.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
