Co-hosted by HBL, the Solomon Australian Basketball Association and the D Fenders Basketball Club, the Honiara Basketball League is set to return from Sunday 9 September 2018 at the Multipurpose Hall.

The 2018 Honiara Basketball League will consist of four divisions: High School Girls; High School Boys; Open Women; and, Open Men. Regular season games will be played throughout September, October and November, with finals to take place in early December. All games will be played under standard FIBA rules, with the exception of a running game clock. The High School divisions will also have some additional modified timing rules.

A registration day will be held this Sunday 2 September at the Multipurpose Hall. All interested clubs and teams are invited to attend the registration day to nominate for the season. There are a limited number of places for each division and these will fill up fast.

Teams must pay the initial registration fee of $500 when registering to confirm their place in the League. The final payment for the season, which will be advised after the close of nominations, must then be paid by the first round on Sunday 9 September.

Schedules will be released no later than Friday 7 September. All rules and regulations outside of standard FIBA rules will be provided to participating teams prior to the first round. League sponsorship is currently being sought and will be advised to participating teams in due course.

The co-organisers are excited by the return of competitive basketball to Honiara and have the full support of the newly-elected SIBF executive and the referee’s division.
