Kryptonite, Belias score win in WNBL

Team Kryptonite and Belias Underdawgs send a strong signal to contenders going into the playoff round after beating separate foes in the ongoing 2012 IP&E Women’s National Basketball League played at the Palau National gym.

Team Kryptonite had three of its leaders in double figures enough to beat arch rival team Money, 64-61 Monday night to secure the top spot in the team standings. The trio of Jubilee Kuartei, Jaime Ngirausui and Leilany Etpison did the job for Kryptonite as they finished with 17, 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Their performance earned Kyrptonite the top spot in the team standings with an 8-1 win-loss record while troika of Tara Tamakong, Esichang Ubedei and Sesengel had 21, 14 and 12 markers, in that order but was not enough to get them back into the game as they now sport a 6-2 mark.

On the other hand, Belias Underdawgs made a huge comeback in the second half to fend off Odesangel Islanders, 53-52.

Jesslyn de Leon topscored for Belias Underdawgs with 24 while teammate Ona claney added 14 as they improved their record to 3-6 while Diliaur Kumaichi, Dildanges Sumang and Isabel Goodall all finished with 10 points each but was not enough as they continue to be winless with a 0-8 record.
