Basketball Fiji aims high
The Fiji Under-19 basketball teams are aiming for the top prize at the Oceania Championships in Australia next week.
Girls captain, Grace Taito says the players know that they will be up against Oceania giants New Zealand and Australia, but this has not deterred them.
She says they are going for a win and will not be settling for second best.
“The girls have been training a lot and we have put so much sweat and effort and we can’t wait to show other countries what we are going to give them. We are aiming to beat Australia but first we are going to play New Zealand and get a better result so we can meet Australia in the finals.”
Both the Fiji teams depart this Friday for Australia for the two-week competition.
The players will also have a chance to impress selectors who will be picking the Pacific All Stars team for a competition next year.
