Basketball Fiji farewells Australian Youth Ambassador for Development -Mark Seccombe

On the 30th September, 2009 Basketball Fiji organised a farewell dinner for Mark Seccombe at the Chinatown Restaurant in Cumming Street, Suva. Mark who is commonly known as Marika is the Australian Youth Ambassador for Development and has been attached with the federation for a year. It is sad to announce that Marika's contract with the federation has come to an end on the 3rd of October and has returned to his country of birth Australia. Basketball Fiji is very lucky to have had Marika as he was of great assistance during the implementation of Basketball Fiji's development program around Fiji. Marika was a driving force behind the inaugural Post Fiji Primary Schools Competition, Junior League and Special Schools Program. He was also of great assistance during the Twisties 2009 National Secondary Schools Championships. His assistance has been invaluable and he will be sincerely missed. The children living in the Raiwai and Raiwaqa community will miss him dearly as he assisted during organised clinics around Fiji and the children at the Special Schools will always have Marika's face engraved in their hearts. The associations will remember Marika as a stand out player during the 2009 Post Shop Easter National Championships where he was part of the victorious Shaq Attaq men’s team. Marika also featured in the various weekly competitions organised by the Suva, Raiwaqa and Raiwai Associations. Basketball Fiji would like to say a Big Vinaka Vaka Levu to Marika for his valuable contribution at the federation and would like to wish him the very best on his journey.
