Hayden Walters – North Ballarat Football Club
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Walters for engaging in rough conduct against Casey Demons player Angus Brayshaw during the second quarter of the VFL Round 2 match, Casey Demons vs North Ballarat on Saturday 22nd April, 2017.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two match base sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore North Ballarat have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a one match sanction.
Outcome – accepted one match sanction
Wylie Buzza – Geelong Football Club
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Buzza for striking Port Melbourne player Tom Gordon during the second quarter of the VFL Round 2 match, Geelong vs Port Melbourne on Saturday 22nd April, 2017.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, which resulted in a one match base sanction, with the option of accepting an early guilty plea of a $500 fine and a reprimand. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty.
Outcome – accepted $500 fine and reprimand
Jack Charleston – Williamstown Football Club
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Charleston with engaging in rough conduct against Northern Blues player Marcus Stavrou during the final quarter of the VFL Round 2 match, Northern Blues vs Williamstown on Saturday 22nd April, 2017.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, which resulted in a three match base sanction, with the option of accepting an early plea of two matches. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty.
Outcome – accepted two match sanction
Tim Currie – Williamstown Football Club
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Currie for striking Northern Blues player Jesse Glass-McCasker during the final quarter of the VFL Round 2 match, Northern Blues vs Williamstown on Saturday 22nd April, 2017.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, which resulted in a four match base sanction, with the option of accepting an early plea of three matches. Due to the players previous tribunal record, the base sanction has been increased by one match.
Outcome – contesting at AFL Victoria Tribunal – 6.00PM tonight
Jack Reaper – Coburg Football Club
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Reaper for charging Box Hill player Liam Cox during the second quarter of the AFL Victoria Development League Round 2 match, Box Hill vs Coburg on Saturday 22nd April, 2017.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and body contact, which resulted in a one match base sanction, with the option of accepting an early plea of a $50 fine (Development League Match) and a reprimand. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty.
Outcome – accepted $50 fine and reprimand
AFL Victoria will advise of the outcome of the Tim Currie (Williamstown Football Club) case at the conclusion of tonight’s hearing via the VFL website and official AFL Victoria Social Media channels.
