Carlton Star Bella Ayre Comes To The NCWL

Carlton young gun Bella Ayre will be the chief guest at the official season launch of the MBCM Northern Country Women’s League which will be held on Saturday evening as a lead in to Echuca v Shepparton clash at Victoria Park, Echuca.

Originally from Kerang, Ayre, an 18 year old student at Bendigo Secondary College, was drafted by Carlton for the inaugural AFLW season this year where she also earned a NAB Rising Star nomination as a key forward.

MBCM NCWL Chairman Chris Thomas is looking forward to Saturday’s event.

“Whilst this weekend will be Round 3 of the competition it will be great to formally kick off the inaugural season of this exciting new competition” he said.

“The first couple of rounds have already seen a couple of upsets and the enthusiasm and talent on display has been fantastic.”

“Bella Ayre is a great example of the emerging opportunities in female football at the senior level and I’m really looking to her being a part of the celebration on Saturday and telling her story of the new and exciting world of AFLW.”

“The League would also like to acknowledge the Goulburn Valley League for their support of this event and for both Echuca and Shepparton for encouraging this game to be played under lights at the completion of the GVL clash.”

“We are really looking forward to the competition’s first night game and it will be a great spectacle and showcase of female football.”
