As 2019 draws to a close and we reflect on a very busy year, Athletics PNG, along with its athletes and coaches would like to

This combined support from the organisations and individuals named above enabled us to:

 Provide accommodation & all meals for an average of approximately 40 athletes & coaches over a period of seven months

 Fully fund 60 PNG based training squad members & coaches to attend the Final Selection Trials in Kimbe

 Fund 17 athletes and two coaches to attend the Thailand Open Championships in May

 Fund 47 athletes and coaches to attend the Oceania Championships in Townsville

 Fully fund a training camp in Cairns for 60 athletes, coaches and support staff for two weeks

 Successfully host our 58th National Track and Field Championships in Kimbe WNB.

A special acknowledgement to Nola Peni and Brett Green for their hard work and outstanding leadership over the final preparation

period and during the PG Games. The 2019 PNG Athletics Team has been the most cohesive and bonded incredibly well with team

spirit and camaraderie high and they have produced outstanding results. The athletes made their supporters, families and their country

very proud.

We topped the Athletics competition medal tally with 14 Gold, 20 Silver and 17 Bronze for a total of 51 medals – 31 medals clear of

our nearest rival. When adjusted for the four gold won by Australia in events we have dominated in recent years this was our best

ever result on foreign soil.
