Boino smashes 110m Hurdles Record

Mowen Boino smashed the National Record for the 110m hurdles on his way to winning the Gold Medal in this event at the recent Pacific Mini Games in Wallis.Throughout his career Boino has focused mainly on the 400m hurdles and has rarely run the sprint hurdles, with his best time before Wallis being 14.94 seconds set in 2006. Faced with a tough challenge in the shape of pre race favourite and specialist sprint hurdler Toriki Urarii , Boino’s fierce competitive nature caused him to rise to a new level and very narrowly win the race in 14.58 seconds. Prior to this the PNG National Record was 14.81 secs set by Wala Gime in 2012.
