The greatest day of Toea Wisil's life at Olympic stadium in London.
Toea Wisil had the greatest day of her life today in the Olympic Stadium in London. Having successfully negotiated the preliminary round of the 100m which all athletes who did not have a qualifying performance were required to participate in , Toea lined up in the first round proper against Allyson Felix of the United States. Her start was fantastic and Toea led Felix through the first 50m before being overhauled in the second half of the race.Toea’s reward was a sensational time of 11.27seconds and a fourth place finish.Unfortunately only the first three finishers in each race were guaranteed a place in the semi final and despite the fact that Toea was faster than three of the automatic qualifiers, she missed out by two places. Nonetheless Toea can be very proud of this fantastic achievement.Although 11.27 seconds is by far the fastest 100m ever run by a Papua New Guinean woman, the time cannot be recognised as a national record because the wind reading (2.2mps) was slightly over the maximum allowed for this purpose (2.0mps). Athletics PNG joins the whole country in congratulating Toea on her magnificent performances today.
