Mize, Cash top 10th Palau Marathon

Long distance runner Joynal Mize and Haley Cash shared the top spot after winning their respective divisions in the recently concluded 10th annual Palau Marathon Event which started in Ngiwal state (one of northern states of Palau) to finish at the world class Palau Pacific Resort.

Mize broke the tape at 3 hours, 42 minutes and 25 seconds to take the men’s division of the marathon event while Jojo Labro (3.54.47) and Carlo Basa(4.32.05) came in second and third, respectively.

In the distaff side, Haley Cash submitted a time of 4 hours 44 minutes and 06 seconds t6o take the first place and Hillary Gardner (5.19.13) and Pasquana Flowers (6.39.39) came in second and third in that order.

In the half marathon (13.1 miles), Douglas Schmidt Jr. finished first place in the men’s category with the time of 1.36.08 and Juan Guatno 1.58.25 and Danny Burgess 1.68.55 settled for second and third.

On the other hand, Tammy Treat claimed the top place for the women’s division with a time of 2.10.41 as Holly Yamada 2.31.17 and Lourdes Materney 2.31.17.

In the Marathon Relay, 25 relay teams entered with 4 members each running the 5k distance, CAT Team 84-01 came in first with a time of 1.50.48 as Team Riall 2.31.47 and T-9 2.57.37 settled for second and third honor.

This event was sponsored by the Palau Pacific Resort, Ministry of Health (NCD Unit), United, Surangel & Sons Co., Palau National Olympic Committee, Kotel a Deureng and Ulekereuil a Klengar.
