March 29th Track & Field Meet

GTFA hosted another succesfull event tis past weekend.  With the high school and middle school season approaching, we had a lot of athletes trying to prepare for the upcoming season.  

The meet started with John Aquino and Alison Bowman winning the 1500m in 4:24 and 5:36 respectively.  This duo will be representing JFK in a track meet in the Phillipines next weekend.

World Indoor representative, Michael Herreros, won the 110m Hurdle in 17.19 while Sierra Daughtry won the 100m Hurdle in 19.05.

Mike Alicto continued to show his dominance in the 100m winning the event in 11.31 edging FSM's Yondan Namelo (11.39).  Raquel Walker won the womens 100m with a time of 12.81.

In the 200m, Namelo won with a time of 23.91 and Regine Tugade won with a time of 26.87.

In the field events, Genie Gerardo won both the hammer throw and shot put with a distance of 26.56m and 9.22m.

The Guam Track & Field Association exists to:

  1. Develop the framework for athletes to participate competitively at international and regional events.
  2. Promote the development of new athletes through local, developmental, and regional events.
  3. Assist in the development of coaching expertise on Guam to raise the performance level of Athletics.
  4. Develop officiating in the sport of Track & Field to maintain expertise for professionally managed track, cross-country, and road race events.
