IAAF Level II Coaches

The Guam Track & Field Association is pleased to announce that five of our island's coaches are now IAAF Level II Certified. With the course completion on the 27th of June, Jay Antonio, Rudy Villegas, April Gerardo, Albert Juan III and Jose Sumbang have earned a passing grade for the three week course. The course introduced the participants to a variety of events in athletics as well as brushed up the teaching progressions for the sport of track and field.  The main focus was on the developing athlete.

Fletcher Mcewan headed the course with assistance from John Nobles, both presenters had a lot to share with the group of 14 members.  The participants came from all around our island region with representatives from the Marshall Islands, Palau, NMI, and Pohnpei.  The group was immersed in both lecture courses as well as practical teaching techniques at the John F. Kennedy track.

The knowledge gained from the course will greatly improve our track and field program here on island and with the induction of the six new coaches GTFA is looking towards the future of the sport on island and abroad.

Thank you to all the participants and lecturers who attended the course.  It was an event that was filled with new friendships, knowledge and a lot of fun.

Albert R. Juan III  GTFA Secretary General
