GTFA Track & Field Classic

The Guam Track & Field Association held its first annual GTFA Classic Track Meet at the Leo Palace Track on Saturday May 29th 2010. Close to 200 Middle school, High school and open competitors competed at our event. Medals were awarded to the top three athletes in all three divisions. It was a huge success to close up a very successful Middle and High school season on island. Athletes of all ages enjoyed the meet that featured events from a 5k to end the meet to the various sprinting events as well as field events.

Team Guam came out in full force looking to fine tune their skills for the upcoming Micronesian Games that will be held in Palau from August 1st through the 10th this year. Our island neighbors from Chuuk also used this event to polish up their skills. Team Chuuk dominated most of the sprinting events with the Howard brothers (John and Jack leading the way). Team Guam was able to take the middle distance events as wall as all the field events.

We are also pleased with the performance of our Middle school athletes on island since most of their times were exceptional. Based on their times we have a very large pool of young talent on island to work with.

GTFA will be holding three more meets before our athletes travel to Palau to represent our island with pride.

Hope to see you there.
