Gosford Sailors Compete In The Etchell Nationals

Gosford sailors will put it all on the line this weekend as they compete in the Australian Etchell Nationals, held out of Pittwater in Sydney. The event showcases some of the best sailors in the world, competing strongly for the Australian National title. 45 Boats are entered in the event, with Gosford’s representatives comprising a total of 3 teams. These include John Denton, Graeme Sheldon and Roy Leslie sailing ‘IVY’, Don Wilson, Justin Gurdol and Peter McIntosh sailing ‘THE DON’ as well as Geoff Dilworth, Ian Bowie and Rod Pearson sailing ‘H20 RAT’. Following 2 days of registration and team weigh in sessions, racing started on the 12th of January, with a total of 2 races. John Denton and his fellow teammates showed consistent form posting a 25th and 36th. They are currently in 31st position overall. Conditions for today’s racing are currently ranging ‘1.8 miles, direction 035°, wind 14 knots, with 35 degree heat’. We wish our Gosford representatives all the best in the upcoming racing!
