Commodore Richard Lowe will make a formal announcement at the 56th Opening Day on November 4th concerning the approval of the Club's new 21 year lease by Parks Victoria.
After a long and protracted period of negotiation, spanning 5 years and three Commodores, this week the Board of Parks Victoria announced their approval for the grant of a new 21-year lease to QCYC for the agreed leasehold at Sand Island.
The application process was commenced by Roger Bennett and continued by John Mooney and Richard Lowe. It has involved many Club members at various stages, including preparation, advice and attendance at meetings. One of the important principles for the Club was that there should be recognition of the Club's commitment to the maintenance of the causeway and Cygnet Bridge, and this was recognised in the decision by the Board of Parks Victoria.
Congratulations should go to all those who invested so much time and effort in achieving such a good outcome for the Club.
