Tasar Race Report 11 September 2016

~ Race Report 11 September 2016 ~

It was the first official day back on the water and 10 Tasars took to the water to wash the cobwebs off the boats and the gear. The group welcomed one new boat MKR with Kim Phillips my old crew from last year letting her husband Mark skipper their boat around the course. John Haines and David Hunt were out in their new boat and we had a visitor (Peter Press) from up the river to keep us on our toes. Once again Andrew McLachlan was out to start us and Pip and I cruised around on the safety boats laying marks and working on our tans.

The first race got underway in a tricky 10 knot Sou ‘Easter with Bruce and Tina in Blew’n getting a good start and picking the shifts to the top mark followed by Andrew and Jack ahead of a closely bunched fleet. Bruce and Sharon on-board Claw had a great race win handicap honours by over 3 min.

The final results were

1

Blew'n

Bruce & Tina Hilleard

2

Gary & Robyn Ratcliffe

3

Andrew & Jack Maher

Race 2 started in 5 to 10 knot breeze and as can be seen in the video on our Facebook page was won by Andy and Jack followed by the rest. By the top mark Gary and Robyn had taken first spot, the rest of the fleet started to spread out as the wind shifts got harder to pick and the tide picked up. Everyone seemed to have had a great day and with tales of missed opportunities, best unrigging techniques and much more upstairs in the bar.
